Through facilitating self-directed home and community-based services, AssuranceSD improves the standard of home care available to aging seniors as well as individuals with special needs.
General Responsibilities:
We are excited to add this position, which is newly created in order to support growth within the business. The individual that we hire will be critical to our FMS (Financial Management Services) operations by executing payroll payments on behalf of individuals that are self-directing their personal care services. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role will assist in executing payroll across 15 states and for over 10,000 employees. Familiarity with payroll processes, accounting principles, internal controls & reconciliations, and state/federal tax procedures are a must. This individual will also work well in a team environment, demonstrate responsibility, and be able to complete timely & accurate work in order to meet payroll deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Payroll Accountant will assist and execute payroll payments as well as preparing State and Federal Tax reports. This individual will work closely with payroll entry staff and the accounting department.
- Assist in research Domestic Employer payroll requirements and labor laws per state
- Stay up to date on new tax and labor laws
- Prepare and reconcile payroll reports
- Generate/Initiate/Authorize payroll direct deposits via ACH
- Record and track wage garnishments, child support orders
- Remit garnishment and child support withholdings to appropriate institutions
- Complete wage and/or employment verifications
- Process payroll tax payments
- Prepare and file state and federal tax reports
- Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors
- Prepare reports for upper management, finance department etc
Who You Are:
- Proven experience as payroll specialist or payroll manager
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals
- Extensive knowledge of Federal and State legislation and regulations for payroll processing, tax payments & reports, and labor laws
- Proficient in MS Office especially Excel and Sharepoint
- Ability to quickly learn new software
- Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
- Familiarity and understanding of HIPAA regulations
- Outstanding organizational and scheduling abilities with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Reliably and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team as well as independently.
- Strong desire to learn and help expand/grow our mission to empower our aging and disabled neighbors to live their best lives by self-directing when, how and where they receive their personal care services
- High school diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus
